Biography

Swedish vocalist, musician, songwriter, author and music teacher Martin Laps has a penchant for crafting soulful pop with a variety of musical styles and influences. In October 2018 Martin released his debut album "Late Entrance" which received critical acclaim in the press.

Born September 5, 1978 in San Salvador, Martin Carlos Laps was adopted to Sweden. Early in life he started exploring his musical interests and learned to play multiple instruments. 

In 2013 Martin released the fantasy-inspired novel ”Skyminngssång för de mörka rådarna”. The novel included a soundtrack hosting ten original songs from the book’s plot. The album was mixed and mastered by Jonas Hofvander and released by Isaberg Publishing. A number of Swedish artists and musicians featured in the album - among them the famous Swedish guitarist Janne Schaffer. 

In 2016 Martin released the single - "Cruise to the Moon" - and the following year the single - "Torn Ripped Skies” - both singles featured on "Late Entrance". 

Four videos were shot for "Late Entrance" and Martin collaborated with photographer and long-time friend Therese Öreteg, Hollywood schooled filmmaker Ashlee Christman and Thales Film & Teater. The album holds twelve tracks and features mixing and mastering by Jonas Hofvander. 

”Late Entrance” summarizes Martin Laps' musical career from 2001 onward with it’s mix of singer-songwriter tunes and soulpop melodies.

In June 2019 Martin released the Ep "Maybe Tomorrow" including four remixed songs from his university years. In November 2020, the single "Christmas at Molly's Jar" was released. The song featured folk music violinist Sven Midgren and drummer Fredrik Berg (mix and master).
